A Pure Heart
Sometimes I reflect upon our conversations.
-"How old were you when you went to Rodrigues?"
-"I was 9."
That happened 20 years ago. Even today Rodrigues isn't exactly known for its hectic lifestyle - it's mostly quiet, empty and to be honest: boring.
-"Weren't you bored? What did you do the whole day?"
-"No baba! There were animals... dogs, goats, chicken... I played with all of them! I loved it!"
That made perfect sense. I too used to love animals too when I was a kid. I still do... but then at that time all animals were friendly towards me and I used to play with them all the time. I suddenly remembered myself as a kid. I had changed, but she had not. She was still the same kid, and animals still trusted her.
